Garnet Health EQUIPMENT PROJECT BENEFITS CATSKILL AND ORANGE REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTERS – 01/04/2012
Middletown, NY – In a classic example of how healthcare facilities can work together to enhance the health of the community, Garnet Health Medical Center – Catskills recently received over $1 million dollars worth of medical equipment, furniture and computer equipment from Garnet Health Medical Center. Both hospitals are members of the Garnet Health, the active parent company of the institutions which provide healthcare to nearly 450,000 residents in Orange, Sullivan and Ulster Counties.
In August, Garnet Health Medical Center replaced its old campuses, Arden Hill and Horton, with New York State’s first new hospital in over 20 years in Middletown, New York. Orange Regional was then able to help its sister hospital, Garnet Health Medical Center – Catskills, by donating surplus items from its old Horton and Arden Hill campuses instead of sending them to public auction.
“This is one of the benefits of being part of a healthcare system,” said Scott Batulis, President and CEO of the Garnet Health. “Orange Regional had a need to remove items from its former campuses in Goshen and Middletown and Garnet Health Medical Center – Catskills needed equipment and furniture. The project was a great success, as both sides of the equation were able to reap the benefits. It was a win-win situation for everyone involved.”
